Sweet Enzo Amore
Natalie Branca
Enzo Amore, age unknown, approximately 10. When Enzo, then known as Rocky, made his way to the Perry County Humane Society in July 2016, he was heartworm positive, underweight, and had an old injury to his hip. He came into my family in December 2016. In June 2018, I found a small mast cell tumor, and it was removed with clean margins. Unfortunately, in August 2019, I found a mass in the same general area. We made the 3-hour trip to the U of I oncology department, where I was told that surgery wasn’t an option. We tried chemotherapy for a while with no success and found that the cancer had moved to his spleen and into his mouth. I brought him home, made him comfortable, and loved him until his passing. Through everything, he was such a trooper, and he will always remain my heart dog.
