Gina had the unique role of being the Esteemed Cheif Toy and Treat Office at DogCentric Supply from 2023-2024. is deeply loved and missed. Gina was my light — a sweet, sassy little soul dog wrapped in hot pink. That color was her signature, from puppyhood through adult doggo, and became a symbol of the joy she brought me every day. She wasn’t just my dog; she was my best friend, my muse, my mini-me. Because of her, I started DogCentric Supply, a small business all about dogs. She was the inspiration for our logo — always sitting attentively like the perfect sidekick, my favorite shadow.
Our days were filled with playful photoshoots and shared moments that would be meaningful to the freedom in our togetherness. We were one, a tiny but perfect family. And then everything changed. Little signs became undeniable. Illness crept in quietly. I was misled by a new vet clinic who seemed young and more focused on money than actual care. Eventually, we found our way to a trusted vet, who confirmed what shattered my heart: Gina had an aggressive stomach cancer. Two masses. Severe deterioration. I wasn’t ready. I’m still not. Today marks a year since she crossed the rainbow bridge, and I still long to see her tail wagging at the door with a toy in her mouth. I will always be grateful for the time I had with my sweet cuddly Gina.
Through grief, I’ve found purpose. We now support the National Canine Cancer Foundation through Pink Paws for Canine Cancer Awareness — hot pink paws and white hearts. I share our story to honor our bond and to help others catch the early signs. While you are reading this you should look at some of the resources on the NCFFs site from Early Warning Signs to the Pink Paw Walk-Run. Gina taught me joy, grit, and unconditional love. And while I miss her every day, this photo captures her spirit — tail wagging, heart full, sassy and fun.
