Cooper’s microscopic cancer initially presented as what was believed to be idiopathic pericardial effusion. Our brave boy underwent cardiac surgery to remove his pericardial sac and appeared to be recovering well. We truly believed he had overcome the worst and would go on to live a long, happy life. Tragically, the underlying cancer was hemangiosarcoma, and just three months later, he unexpectedly succumbed to the disease. Cooper was, and always will be, our best and bravest boy.
